19th Annual General Meeting

May 26-27, 2016 | St. Petersburg, Russia

The 19th IBC AGM was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the invitation by PJSC Gazprom. It brought together over 450 delegates and guests, and was focused on the topic «Cooperation in the Energy Sector as a Stabilizing Factor for the Global Economy». Mr. Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of St. Petersburg, took part in the opening ceremony of the AGM.


The AGM re-elected Dr. A. B. Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee, PJSC Gazprom, as the IBC President, and Mr. Klaus Schaefer, CEO, Uniper SE, was elected as the IBC Vice President. The forum also re-elected the membership of the IBC Presiding Committee and the Board of Directors.

 

18th Annual General Meeting

May 28-29, 2015 | Belgrade, Serbia

The 18th EBC AGM was held in Belgrade, Serbia, on the invitation by the EBC sponsoring member Srbijagas and was co-sponsored by Comita d.d. and Millennium Team. It brought together over 350 delegates and guests, and was focused on the topic «The Future of Europe’s Energy Sector: Its Structure and Place in the Global Market». Mr. Aleksandar Antić, Minister of Energy of Serbia, took part in the opening ceremony of the AGM. The forum re-elected the Presiding Committee Membership.

 

17th Annual General Meeting

May 29-30, 2014 | Athens, Greece

The 17th EBC AGM was held in Athens, Greece, on the invitation by the EBC senior member Prometheus Gas. It brought together over 350 delegates and guests, and was focused on the topic «Gas Motor Fuel for European Environment». Mr. Yannis Maniatis, Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Government of Greece, took part in the opening ceremony of the forum.

The AGM unanimously re-elected Dr. A. B. Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee, OAO „Gazprom" as the EBC President, and Mr. Juergen Fitschen, Co-Chairman of the Board, „Deutsche Bank" AG, was elected as the EBC Vice-President. The forum also re-elected the membership of the EBC Presiding Committee and the Board of Directors.

 

16th Annual General Meeting

May 30-31, 2013 | Amsterdam, the Netherlands

The 16th EBC AGM was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the invitation by the EBC sponsoring members Nederlandse Gasunie and Royal Boskalis Westminster. It brought together over 300 delegates and guests, and was focused on the topic «Development of LNG and its Impact on the European Gas Markets» Mr. Jos de Groot, Director of Energy Markets, Ministry of Economy of the Netherlands, took part in the opening ceremony of the AGM. The forum re-elected the EBC Presiding Committee Membership.

 

15th Annual General Meeting

31 May - 1 June 2012 | Portorose, Slovenia

The 15th Jubilee AGM is due to be held in Portorose, Slovenia, on May 31st -June1st, 2012.
The hosting company was Comita d.d. Mr. Z. Cernac, Minister of Infrastructure and Spacial Planning of Slovenia, took part in the AGM. The forum was focused on the topic «Energy Security and New Opportunities for Natural Gas». Early 300 delegates and guests came together to mark the 15th anniversary of the EBC. The AGM unanimously re-elected Dr. A. B. Miller as the EBC President and Mr. Juergen Fitschen was elected as the EBC Vice-President. The forum also re-elected the membership of the EBC Board of Directors.

 

14th Annual General Meeting

2-3 June 2011 | Prague, Czech Republic

The 14th AGM was held in Prague, the Czech Republic, on June 2-3, 2011. The focal topic was «Ecological Challenges and the Energy Sector». The forum marked the 10th anniversy of Dr. A. Miller's EBC Presidency. It was hosted by the Czech energy company VEMEX s.r.o. and was co-sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Czech Energy Major MND.

The Czech Prome-Minister Mr. Klaus met with Dr. Miller in the frame of the event, ad the First Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Mr. Hüner took part in the Plenary session of the AGM. In the evening of the first AGM day an official opening of the international LNG driven automobiles rally took place. High-level forum brought together more than 300 participants from 23 OSCE countries.

 

13th Annual General Meeting

10-11 June 2010 | Cannes, France

The 13th AGM was held in Cannes, France, on June, 10-11, 2010 and was focused on «Natural Gas- the Energy of the 21st Century». The AGM was hosted by Total S.A. and co-sponsored by the banks Credit Agricole CIB and Societe Generale.

The forum brought together over 300 participants representing 84 companies and organisations-members to the EBC. The EBC President Dr. A. Miller gave a press-conference and participated as a key speaker at the afternoon conference. These two events were broadly covered by the global and European media. The main idea of the forum was that natural gas being the accessable and ecologically clean energy source, will be the energy of the future.

 

12th Annual General Meeting

10-11 June 2009 | Porto Cervo, Sardinia

The 12th AGM was held in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, on June 10-11, 2009, hosted by the EBC sponsoring member ENI.
The focal topic was «Energy Sector and Turmoil on Financial Markets. Implications for Investment and Supply-Demand Balance». In the frame of the forum Gazprom Chairman and the EBC President gave a press-conference to the international media community. He covered a range of issues on the current situation in the energy sector, on Gazprom`s pricing and incestments policy, on scenarios for the consequences of financial crisis for the energy sector.

 

11th Annual General Meeting

10–11 June 2008 | Deauville, France

The 11th AGM was held in Deauville, France, on June 10-11, 2008, and was hosted by the sponsoring members Gaz de France and Schlumberger. The focal topic was «Globalisation of the Energy Markets». The forum was held on a high representative level and brought together 270 delegates. In the frame of the AGM the sensational press-conference on gas prices was given by Gazprom top management. The outcome received wide repercussions in the leading world media agencies.

 

10th Annual General Meeting

14-15 June 2007 | Berlin, Germany

The 10th Jubilee AGM was held on June 14-15, 2007 in Berlin. The hosts were 10 German companies.
The focal topic: «Global challenges: Climate Change and Energy Supply». The forum was held on a high representative level with participance by Deputy Economy Minister of Germany Mr. Wuermelling. The AGM brought together over 290 delegates and guests, and the outcome received a wide mass media coverage in Europe, Germany and Russia. On June 14th, in honour of the 10th anniversary of the EBC, the hosts gave a reception and Gala dinner in Charlottenburg Palace.

 

9th Annual General Meeting

15-16 June 2006 | Portorož, Slovenia

The 9th AGM was held in Portorose, Slovenia, on June 15-16, 2006.
The focal topic- «Development of the European Energy Sector. Prospective Scenarios 2020». The unprecedented number of participants was registered- about 300 persons. The forum was held on the high representative level. The Slovenian Premier-Minister Mr. Janez Janza gave a working breakfast for the EBC President Dr. A. Miller in the course of which the issues of the South-Europen energy sector development for the long-term perspective were discussed. The Economy Minister of Slovenia Mr. Andrey Vizyak and other members of Slovenian government also participated in the forum. The AGM re-elected Dr. A. Miller as EBC President, and Dr. von Heydebreck –as the EBC Vice-President.

The international conference of the 9th AGM heard the positions of the energy business leaders on the future of the European energy sector. The key speakers represented Gazprom, E.ON Ruhrgas, Shell, ExxonMobil, Wintershall, Accenture. The materials of the afternoon conference were published in the Internet and were covered by mass media of the South East Europe.

 

8th Annual General Meeting

2-3 June 2005 | Vilnius, Lithuania

The 8th AGM was held on June 2-3, 2005, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The topic was «The Baltic Sea Region-a Growth Hub for Europe». The forum brought together over 250 delegates and guests. The President of Lithuania, Mr. Valdas Adamkus, the Premier- Minister Mr. Algurdas Brazauskas and other representatives of the Lithuanian government participated in the AGM. The host was the renowned leader of the Lithuanian economy, the EBC member company «Achemos Grupe». The forum studied the development prospects of the Baltic region from the point of view of its integration into the European Union. The outstanding politicians, heads of energy majors, heads of international organisations and high-ranking scientists took part in the afternoon conference. The presentations made at the conference were published in the Internet and received a media coverage. They were also forwarded to the interested international organisations.

 

7th Annual General Meeting

10-11 June 2004 | Varna, Bulgaria

The 7th AGM was held jn June 9-10, 2004, in Varna, Bulgaria.
It was focused on the topic «Infrastructure as the Basis for Sustainable Development of the Regions». The forum was held on a high representative level. Over 250 delegates took part in the session.The Bulgarian President, Mr. Georghi Pirvanov, the OSCE Chairman, Mr. Salomon Passi, Economy Minister of Bulgaria Mrs. Lydia Shuleva and the heads of Bulgarian regions took part in the AGM. The materials of the international conference were publushed in the Internet and received a wide media coverage.

 

6th Annual General Meeting

19-20 June 2003 | Moscow, Russia

The 6th AGM was held in Moscow, 19-20 June 2003, in Gazprom`s central office.
The focal topic was «Energy Policy in a Transforming Europe». The forum gathered a considerable number of high-calibre experts and heads of international organisations. More that 200 delegates took part in the AGM including the representatives of OSCE, UNO, the European Commission and the outstanding scientists.

The materials of the conferemnce were publushed in the Internet and received a media coverage in two languages. Certain changes were also introduced into the Presiding Committee memberships. The hosting party was OAO Gazprom.

 

5th Annual General Meeting

4-5 June 2002 | Budapest, Hungary

The 5th AGM was held in Budapest, Hungary, on June 4 -5, 2002.
The focal topic was «Russia in the Changing Europe». The AGM marked the 5th anniversary of the EBC. Mr. Vyakhirev officially retired. Dr. Alexey Miller, Chairman of OAO Gazprom, was elected President of the EBC. Dr. T. von Heydebreck was re-elected Vice-President. The forum brought together over 200 delegates from 22 OSCE member-states. The hosting party was the renowned Hungarian energy company MOL. The materials of the AGM were published in the Internet in English, Hungarian and Russian.

 

4th Annual General Meeting

13-14 June 2001 | Antalya, Turkey

The 4th AGM was held on June 13-14, 2001, im Antalya, Turkey.
The central topic was-«Global Water Resources». Over 250 delegates and guests from 23 OSCE states gathered to take part in the AGM. The 9th President of Turkey, Mr. Suleiman Demirel, the outstanding German, Turkish and Russian water experts participated in the forum. The AGM discussed the political, economic and social aspects of the topic and formulated recommendations to the governments pf the OSCE member-states in terms of approaches and solutions in the field of water supply and water preservation.

At the AGM Mr. Vyakhirev made a statement on his retirement and on his successor, Chairman of Gazprom, Dr. Miller, who had to take over and to chair the EBC till his election at the next AGM. (according to the EBC Charter the election of the president takes place every two years).

 

3rd Annual General Meeting

22 June 2000 | Paris, France

The 3rd AGM took place on 22-23 June 2000 in Paris, France, and was focused on the economic relations between Europe and Russia. The forum brought together over 200 delegates from 23 OSCE member-states. It was attended by the French Foreign Trade Minister Mr. Francois Huward, the Russian Minister of Economic Developmet Mr. Gref, (by correspondence), Deputy Chairman of the Russian Council of the Federation Mr. V. Platonov, Chairman of GdF Mr. Guadonnaix, Director of the World Energy Council Mr. K. Brendow, Vice-President of Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Mr. Jenkins etc.

In order to broaden the platform for voicing the positions of private sector, the AGM decided on opening its door to the medium and small businesses. The AGM adopted a number of related amendments to the Articles of Association.

Dr. Tessen von Heydebreck, Member of the Board Deutsche Bank AG, was elected EBC Vice-President having replaced the retired Dr. G. Krupp.

 

2nd Annual General Meeting

15-16 June 1999 | Athen, Greece

The 2nd AGM was held on June 15-16, 1999, in Athens, Greece.
The priorities of modern European economy and politics including the mechanisms of strengthening business contacts through economic infrastructure were the focus of the forum. It took stock of the EBC committees activities over the first year, formulated a number of recommendations to the governments of the OSCE member-states in the field of energy, information and communications and business security. The AGM marked the important stage in the organisation-building process which was granting a legal status to the EBC.

The forum brought together over 200 representatives of different businesses from 23 OSCE member-states. The key presentations were delivered by Mr. Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the German ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. S. Venizelos, the Greec Minister of economic development, Mr. Lindal, the President of ABB, Mr. Bergmann, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ruhrgas AG, Mr. T. Price, OSCE Co-ordinator for Economy and Environment.

 

1st Annual General Meeting

13-14 June 1998 | Sardinia, Italy

The 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the EBC was held on 11-12 June 1998. in Forte Village Resort, Sardinia.
The forum brought together representatives of 64 companies and organisations from 22 OSCE member-states. Integration of East – and Westeuropean economies, the prospects of the energy sector in the OSCE area were discussed, the stratefic priorities of the EBC development were fixed and its statutory bodies were set up. The key statements were made by the EBC President and Vice-President, by Mr. Ferrari, SNAM Chairman, by Mr.De Adda, Vice-President ENI, by Mr. Fahrholz, Member of the Board Deutsche Bank AG, Mt. T. Price, the then OSCE Co-ordinator for Economy and Environment and by Mr. Fehrmann, Vice-President Siemens AG.

 

The Founding of the EBC

8-9 December 1997 | Bonn, Germany

The founding conference which took place on 8-9 December 1997 in Bonn, Germany, in the Maritim Hotel.
The event brought together over 500 representatives of big, medium and small business from 37 OSCE member-states. Apart from Russian energy majors RAO Gazprom, RAO US Russia and LUKOIL, such renowned majors of the European business as ABB, Deutsche Bank AG, Siemens, Phillips, Ruhrgas, Tractebel, Tetra Laval, Dresdner Bank, Credit Lyonnais, ENI, Bayernwerk, Gaz de France, Mannesmann, BHP Petroleum, Neste Oy, Ferrostaal, Gasunie, Norsk Hydro etc. Took part in the event.

The statements were made by such prominent politicians and businessmen as ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mr. Igor Ivanov, the German Minister of Education Mr. Jürgen Rüttgers, Chairman of Siemens Mr. Heinrich von Pierer, the Mayor of Bonn Mrs. Dickmann. Dr. Rem Vyakhirev, the former Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, was elected President of the newly-founded European Business Congress, and Dr Georg Krupp, the then Member of the Board, Deutsche Bank AG,- the Vice-President. In the course of the conference, 56 companies expressed their wish to join the newly-founded organisation.

On December 9th, 1997, in the frame of the Founding conference, 5 working committees were set up and held their first meetings: Energy, Business Security, Law, Banking and Finance, Ecology and Healthcare, Information and Communications.
