Dear Members of the International Business Congress,
The year 2020 has become a serious test of strength for companies and organizations around the world. It has also brought substantial changes to our lives and work.
This year, for the first time ever, we voted by written consent on the procedural issues of the Annual General Meeting of the International Business Congress. The necessary quorum for this was obtained. The IBC members endorsed the results of our work in 2019 and passed resolutions on the key issues for the coming year.
I thank the members of the IBC for their participation in the votes and for the honour and trust they have placed in me to be elected as the IBC President for another two-year term.
Today, the international community’s attention is focused on low-carbon energy. The foundation for the future energy model is being laid. This opens up excellent opportunities for using natural gas. The most effective way to low-carbon energy in the near term is the use natural gas instead of coal and oil fuels. In the long term, it is the production of hydrogen from methane without CO2 emissions.
Discussing possible ways of developing the energy sector at the IBC conference “Natural Gas – Paving the Way to an Ecological Economy” in Bonn, CEOs of the world’s leading energy companies unanimously emphasized the important role of natural gas in the energy mix for the coming decades.
Transforming the gas market, implementing innovations, developing new products and sectors of the energy business, attracting highly skilled experts and promising students to the oil and gas industry are among the main issues on the agenda of our meetings. We shall continue to work in these and other areas within the framework of the IBC working committees and projects.
This year we were unable to hold our traditional face-to-face meetings. At the same time, I would like to thank the chairpersons of the “Information and Communication” and “Human Resources” working committees for organizing online sessions for the members of the IBC.
In conclusion, let me wish you all good health, lots of energy and successful work.
